Military Medal GV Miniature Category_Gallantry 2nd Awards sweepers and driversInstituted on 25th March 1916 for rewarding acts of bravery not sufficient to merit the award of the DCM, it was backdated to recognise acts from the outbreak of the First World War. In June 1916 it was extended to women two such awards being made for the Easter rising in Dublin that same year.
