The Mercantile Marine War Medal was awarded by the Board of Trade of the United Kingdom to members of the Merchant Navy for one or more voyages through a war or danger zone during the course of World War I

The bars which originally had the date of the acts in raised lettering were changed in 1916 to the standard laurelled bars

The General Service Medal with Malay Peninsula Clasp was awarded for 30 days service ashore

It recognises the vital contribution of those who worked tirelessly to protect their nations between 3 September 1939 and 8 May 1945 (Europe) and up to 2 September 1945 (the Far East)

George Medal GVI Orders Royal MarinesInstituted in 1940 for rewarding acts of outstanding gallantry deemed not suitable for the award of the George Cross.
