He is often depicted as a giant (jtunn) rather than one of the main gods, yet he is friendly with them and frequently hosts grand feasts for the gods in his underwater hall. His wife is Rn, who is known for capturing sailors in her net, and together they have nine daughters who personify ocean waves. Aegir represents both the bounty and danger of the
