Description

A brooding and very reserved but highly complex nose features notes of dried flowers

dark fruit to support another two decades of very fine drinking

its vinous core of fruit cloaks the vintage's brisk acids to achieve real plenitude in a year that's sometimes rather tautly austere

silky finish that feels very persistent

The finish is soft and luscious

Bouchard Pere et Fils, Corton Rouge Vintage:2001 A brooding and very reservedLike several of the wines in the range, this lacks a bit of aromatic freshness on the red currant, sauvage and wood suffused nose. The rich, supple and round middle weight flavors are surprisingly forward compared to how this wine is typically structured, all wrapped in an acceptably lingering finish. While perfectly OK, I found this to be somewhat disappointing relative to its usual quality as its often one of Bouchards best wines. (89 92) 2027+
