The white side is a standard soft rubber compound for graphite, lifting pencil lines cleanly without tearing the page. The grey side mixes in fine silica sand, which works by lightly abrading the very top layer of the paper rather than just lifting pigment off the surface that abrasive action is what lets it actually remove ballpoint ink, colored pencil, typed text, or fineliner marks,
